Steve & Emily Godek - Later Years and the Arrival of Ethan & Josh - 1996

Stephen & Emily became great-grandparents with the birth of my sons Ethan in 1995 and Joshua in 1996. I was thankful that my grandparents were still around to be a part of their lives.

Family gatherings continued to be precious occasions for Stephen & Emily.

Emily was never the same since having a stroke. Over time dementia set in and progressed. Stephen was a strong and faithful caretaker to her, ever so loving and forsaking himself to help her.

Eight years after the stroke Emily reached a point where she needed more than Stephen could provide. She entered the nursing home in February of 2001 at the age of 85. Two years later in May 2003 Stephen left their home at Burton Street for the last time and joined Emily in the nursing home

Stephen passed away April 18, 2004 at the age of 96. Emily passed away six weeks later on May 27, 2004 at the age of 89.
