Chicopee, March 14 – The Gold Eagle Palm, highest award in scouting, was presented to Leslie Fournier, 14 and Gerard Fournier, 15, at the court of honor of the Aldenville scouting units held Friday evening in the parish hall of St Rose de Lima Church.
Other Awards MadeOther awards went to scouts of Troop 138 as follows: Life Scout Eli Masse, Jr.,; Star Scout, George Escott; First Class; Robert Berger and Richard Goyette, and Second Class, Benjamin Brennan, Jr., Levin Carrier, Rudolph Giesking, Jr, Richard Plasse, Richard Rivet, Robert Rivet, Homer Stebins, and Paul Thibault.
Tenderfoot awards went to Joseph Bernardos, Arthur Breyare, Jr. Gerald Burge, Levi Carrier, Rudolph Giesking, Thomas Guenette, David Hall, Raymond Potvin, Richard Rivet, Robert Rivet, and Donald Robiliard.
Awards for Explorer Scouts were as follows: The Gold Award, highest in this branch of scouting went to Earl Roberts and the Bronze Award was presented to Richard Potvin. Both received the outdoor skills award. The vocational exploration award was received by Potvin, Robert Bonneau, Richard Gaboury, Eli Masse, Jr., and Fred Swanson. Theodore Yargeau received the explorer apprentice award.
Recipients of merit badges were Joseph, Bardon, Robert Berger, Robert Bonneau, Richard Fulton, Richard Gaboury, Richard Goyette, Eli Masse, Richard Plasse, and Richard Rivert.
Webelo awards were presented to Cub Scouts Michael Nelson, Paul Gaboury, Robert Rivet, and Raymond Marcil.
Charles W. Fournier, troop committee chairman served as master of ceremonies, and guests present were Field Scout Executive Joseph Cohen, Patrolman Leonard Breault representing Chief Theodore A. Fisher, School Committeeman Ernest Leonard, Comdr. RolandHenault of American Legion Post 337, Civil Defense Director Robert Boulay, assistant District Commissioner J. Gerard LeBlanc Neighborhood Commissioner Thaddeus Garczynski, and Scoutmasters Paul Dupont of Troop 132, Chicopee, and George McKinon Troop 23, Springfield.
Mayor Trybulski, unable to attend was represented by committeeman Ernest Abert; who on behalf of the mayor presented a scout knife to each scout who advanced in rank.
