Second Co. C. Man Joining Training Plan

Chicopee, Dec. 20 - Pvt. Leslie A. Fournier of local Co. C, 104th Infantry Regiment MNG, will report on January 13 to Fort Dix, NJ, to begin six months basic training under active duty status. He joined Co. C Oct. 29.

He is the second member of Co. C to go on active duty for six months. Recently completing his tour was PFC Robert R. Raymond of 20 Erline Street, son of Mrs. Irene Raymond. He served at Fort Benning, Ga., and Fort Jackson, SC.

Fournier, son of Mrs. Lillian Fournier of 36 Kaveney Street, attended Chicopee High School and is employed in the tennis department at A.G. Spalding & Bros.,Inc. He is an Eagle Scout

Under present directives one of five men enlisted in the National Guard is required to sign up for active duty for six months. The term offers the men an opportunity to test their liking for military life and provides guard companies with the nucleus of well trained men. While on active duty the men have the option of signing up for a Regular Army hitch or returning home.
