In early 1962 Les Fournier and Connie Godek met for the first time at a singles dance. This dance was held at the Schine Inn in Chicopee, Massachusetts.
At the time of this first encounter Les was 23 years old. He lived at his family home at 36 Kaveney St in the Aldenvile section of Chicopee. Les worked as an assistant manager at the Topps Department Store on Riverdale Road in West Springfield.
Connie was 18 years old and lived at her family home at 5 Burton Street located in the Chicopee Center section of the city. Connie was a student at Baypath College in Longmeadow and also worked at Mass Mutual Insurance Company in Springfield.
This first dance marked the beginning of their relationship and the start of what would become my family. Following the dance they began to date frequently, spending more and more time together.
